Jupiter Ascending Trailer

Jupiter Ascending Synopsis
Earth's residents are unaware life on Earth and countless other planets has been seeded by families of alien royalty for the purpose of harvesting the evolved living creatures once they reach a "Darwinian state of perfection" to produce a type of youth serum that allows them to live forever. When the matriarch of the House of Abrasax, the most powerful of the alien dynasties, dies her children Balem (Eddie Redmayne), Kalique (Tuppence Middleton), and Titus (Douglas Booth) are at war over the inheritance, with Balem inheriting an enormous production facility on Jupiter and Titus declaring his intention to dismantle the youth serum trade. The three discuss Earth, apparently a key feature of their late mother's real estate portfolio.

Meanwhile, as narrated by Jupiter in flashback, her father Maximilian Jones (James D'Arcy) meets her mother Aleksa (Maria Doyle Kennedy) in Saint Petersburg. They get married and Maximilian plans to name their unborn daughter Jupiter, after the biggest and most beautiful planet in the solar system, fueled by his undying love for the planets and his reliable telescope. At first unrelenting to the name, after Maximilian is killed during a violent robbery, Aleksa names their daughter Jupiter and they move to Chicago to live with Aleksa's family.

Many years later, Jupiter (Mila Kunis) works with Aleksa and her aunt and cleans the homes of wealthy people. To buy a telescope, Jupiter agrees to sell her eggs with the help of her cousin Vladie (Kick Gurry) and using the alias of her friend Katharine Dunlevy (Vanessa Kirby). While at Katherine's house, Jupiter and Katherine are attacked by creatures resembling grey aliens; Jupiter manages to get a picture of them, but they erase her memory of the incident. Later on, Jupiter panics during the egg donation procedure and the doctors and nurses turn out to the same creatures: Balem's agents, sent to kill her. She is saved by Caine Wise (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military fighter and hunter who was sent by Titus to track Jupiter down.

Stinger Apini (Sean Bean), an old friend of Caine's who gave up his career and his wings to save Caine after a disastrous incident many years ago, agrees to help Jupiter, but a group of hunters manage to kidnap Jupiter from Stinger's farm and bring her to Kalique'a palace on a distant planet. She explains that Jupiter is the genetic reincarnation of her, Balem's, and Titus's mother, whose will stipulated that Earth be passed to her reincarnation, should one emerge, instead of her children. Backed up by Captain Diomika Tsing (Nikki Amuka-Bird) of the Aegis (an intergalactic police force), Caine retrieves her from Kalique, and brings her to humanity's original home-world so that she can claim her inheritance.

On the way back to Earth, Titus detains Jupiter and Caine. He reveals his true plan to marry and then kill Jupiter and claim Earth before throwing Caine into the void, but Caine survives and saves Jupiter at the altar. By now, Jupiter is frustrated and asks to be returned home, but finds her family has been taken hostage by Balem. During the subsequent confrontation within the Great Red Spot, Balem demands Earth in exchange for Jupiter's family. Realizing that Balem can claim Earth only if she signs it over, Jupiter decides not to at the last moment, realizing she can either save her family and let the rest of the world die or she can save the billions of people on Earth instead.

Balem tries to kill Jupiter, revealing that his mother had asked Balem to kill her because she hated her life. Jupiter beats Balem, causing him to fall. She escapes and is rescued by Caine, Stinger, and Tsing. Jupiter's family is safely returned home with no memory of her disappearance, while Jupiter remains Queen of the Earth. Vladie and her family buy her the telescope she wanted and Caine is granted back the wings that were taken away many years prior.
